Project Description

Cost: $19,463,943.70

This work included the complete repair and replacement work to correct damage caused by Hurricane Ivan in September 2004. These buildings are located at Sherman Field and are part of the Navy air operations and training facilities at Pensacola, Florida. The work developed into extensive roof replacement of the majority of the buildings utilizing several different roof types, including metal standing seam roofing, modified bitumen roofing and single ply membrane roofing. The finishes included replacement acoustical ceilings systems, wall finishes, floor coverings and millwork. The entire HVAC system was replaced in one hanger/training/operations building while the building was occupied to allow training operations to continue. All of the buildings remained occupied during the construction which required relocation of tenants, phasing of the schedule and extensive coordination. The Blue Angels operations hanger building 1854 was part of this work. The project was awarded based on the original $5,000,000.00 proposal and developed through change order negotiations to over $19,000,000.00 at the completion of the work in August 2007.
